Rooks make cup progress
29/9/09
Lewes moved into the third qualifying round of the FA Cup this evening with a hard fought, but well deserved win after extra time, against Ryman South side Leatherhead.
Joe Keehan's headed goal in the 102nd minute atoned for an earlier penalty miss during the second half when Lewes were firmly on top.
The Rooks had plenty of chances to win comfortably and even had a goal controversially disallowed after a foul by Dan Beck on the keeper.
Manager Steve Ibbitson said: "We made it tougher than it should have been, we had so many chances in the second half. If we'd have been 4-0 up at the end of notmal time it wouldn't have flattered us."
Lewes now face a difficult away tie to Wealdstone in the third qualifying round on October 10th.
