Lewes battle in bath
12/9/09
After ten games, Lewes are still hunting for their first win of the season despite a spirited second half performance at Twerton Park which saw them come back from behind to share the points.
Both sides faced injury problems and the Lewes starting 11 included six players who were under 20, although none of the players had too much to be concerned about in a mundane opening half.
After the break, both sides provided some more entertainment but the hosts took a 53rd minute lead when Kaid Mohammed broke clear and rounded keeper Rikki Banks before slotting home into an empty net.
Lewes seemed hurt but after a short spell when they gathered their momentum, David Wheeler hit the post after a typical mazy run and a courageous fightback began. With Sam Crabb and Louis Pople on as subs, Lewes looked more dangerous and Dan Royce's corner ten minutes from time created havoc in the area and Pople managed to bundle the ball over the line after it had hit the bar and bounced out.
The Rooks finished the stronger side but later efforts from Pople, Crabb and a last gasp header from Joe Keehan couldn't give the visitors the win they deserved.
