Lewes ended their pre-season preparations with a 1-0 win over Eastbourne Town.

Steve Ibbitson's side have played five friendlies, winning three and drawing two, and he will be very pleased with his team's progress so far. "There's always more to be done," he said, "but I believe we're ready for the new season."

Lewes caught the eye with a fine passing game which almost saw Jack Walder take the lead, but his shot was saved by the Town keeper.

Lewes number one Rikki Banks wasn't to be left out though, making a double save after 70 minutes which looked as though the hosts would go in front.

Former Eastbourne Borough player Sam Crabb had the final say though, scoring his third pre-season goal in the 83rd minute to preserve the Rooks' unbeaten run of friendlies.
