Rooks net first win
29/7/09
Lewes continued their pre-season campaign with a 1-0 victory over Dulwich Hamlet at the Dripping Pan this evening.
Dulwich, who beat BSS side Welling United last weekend, put up a determined display against the Rooks, with former Dripping Pan favourite Junior Kadi in action for the visitors.
Chances were rare for both sides although Dan Beck had a great opportunity to open the scoring in the first ten minutes, yet despite being clear on goal he blasted his shot wide.
Lewes manager Steve Ibbitson used the match as an opportunity to try out some different players from the side that drew with Carshalton on Saturday, with Danny Cullip, Fred Foreman, Scott Kirkwood and Ryan Storrie all starting.
The line-ups of both teams changed considerably during the second half, and it was one of the Lewes substitutes, William Peauroux who scored after his clever run saw him play in David Wheeler. The winger shrugged off the attentions of a defender before crossing the ball back across goal for Peauroux to open his Lewes account with a close range tap in.
Lewes next entertain long-time rivals Worthing at the Dripping Pan on Saturday, kick off 3.30pm.
Lewes: Banks; Pearson; Barness; Cullip; Foreman; Breach; Wheeler; Beck; Kirkwood; Storrie; Keehan. Subs: Peauroux; Royce; Crabb; Timms; Fisk; Popple; Banasco-Zaragoza; Hall; Walder
