Lewes FC secretary Carole Bailey received this letter from Eastbourne Borough earlier this week following the friendly fixture on Tuesday evening:

Dear Carole,

My Committee have requested I write and thank you for the excellent hospitality received at last night's pre-season Fixture.

Please also pass on to Sue Kitchener, I believe one of your turnstile operators, our sincere thanks for her prompt and expert attention to our supporter Eric Lockwood who had suffered a heart attack. The Paramedics advised that she probably saved his life.

Eric is now recovering in hospital and I am sure will add his own thanks when he returns home.

Kind regards,

Myra Stephens

Eastbourne Borough FC

Lewes FC would like to add their own thanks to volunteers Dorothy & Peter Brooks who are providing the hospitality this season, and volunteer turnstile operator Sue Kitchener, whose quick response and action looks to have saved the life of Eric.

The club are very pleased to hear that Eric is now recovering in hospital and send's its best wishes on behalf of everyone at the Dripping Pan for a welcome return to the terraces. Get well soon Eric.
