The new season kicks off for the Rooks on Tuesday evening with a friendly against Blue Square Premier neighbours Eastbourne Borough.

Eastbourne have already notched pre-season wins over St Francis Rangers and Poole Town and will be keen to add the scalp of their local rivals to that list as they prepare for their opening fixture away to Wrexham and a second season in the Blue Square Premier.

Lewes manager Steve Ibbitson and assistant Jason Hopkinson have both been working hard shaping a new squad since they agreed to take over the reigns of the first team, and are looking forward to the new kick off.

Ibbitson told the Sussex Express: ""Lewes v Eastbourne matches are always interesting, and it will be a big game and a big test for us.

"They should bring a few fans along, and hopefully we can get a decent number of people supporting us as well.

"Training has stepped up a gear in recent weeks, and it is going very well. Although the result won't be the be all and end all on Tuesday, it will be a good chance for us to have a look at where we are."

Kick off is at 7.45pm and admission is £7 adults, £3 concessions with children free.
