Ladies show off their trophies
13/5/09
Lewes Ladies celebrated the end of their most successful season with an end of term photo in front of the Philcox Stand, with the addition of two shiny trophies.
The Rooks won the South East Women's Combination Cup earlier in the month with a hard fought victory over eventual League champions Enfield. That now sits alongside the Sussex Cup in the trophy cabinet after the Ladies won the right to be called the best team in Sussex in March by beating Brighton and Hove Albion.
Lewes manager Jacquie Agnew said that this season had been the most rewarding since she took over the helm, but that there was more work to come. "We've had a great season and all the players have played their part," she said.
"My pre-season aims - to get to the third round of the FA Cup; win the Sussex Cup; and finish at least fourth in the league - have all been met so I'll be setting harder targets next season, with a higher finish in the league a priority."
"I'd like to thank all the players and backroom staff for their hard work this season, as well as Ronnie who continues to show great support as do the club directors. I'm looking forward to next season already!"
