Lewes Ladies celebrated their “brilliant season” this evening with an awards presentation at the White Hart hotel.

Director of Football Ronnie Moore spoke admiringly of the Ladies team following a season which saw them secure the County Cup and the League Cup, and reached round four of the FA Cup.

Moore said that the FA Cup defeat on penalties to Derby County, who won promotion to the Ladies Premier League this season, was the catalyst for the Rooks’ success which now made them the team that everyone wanted to beat in Sussex.

Manager Jacquie Agnew was proud to be involved in the team’s “most successful year ever.” Agnew said “We know we can compete well in the Combination and we know we can beat anyone at this level. This incredible season demonstrates that the set of players we have can always deliver the results.”

The manager also paid tribute to the backroom team, claiming it’s the best the club has ever had. “Our captain (Kelly Newton) has been magnificent on and off the field, Ronnie is a great guy with wisdom and vision; and we’ve got fantastic coaches who show great commitment and dedication to the team.”
