Lewes ended their brief stay in the Blue Square Premier with a 1-1 draw against York City at the Dripping Pan this afternoon.

With York having secured safety with a Friday night win at Weymouth, and Lewes already relegated, the game had an end of season air about it with few chances and little entertainment.

With ten minutes left, the FA Trophy finalists took the lead when substitute Richard Brodie's header forced Lewes keeper Rikki Banks into a save but the ball fell loose to Mark Greaves who was able to knock in the rebound.

Lewes showed spirit and in front of a crowd of 802, the Rooks equalised with three minutes remaining. Luke Rooney's free kick was headed across the goal as far as Sam Fisk and his headed knock on looked goal bound until Joe Keehan bundled the ball in at the far post for his ninth goal of the season and confirm his status as the season's top scorer.

The draw brings to an end the reign of Caretaker Manager Steve Ibbitson, but his spell in charge has seen seven points from the last four home matches and he has proved very popular with Lewes supporters.
