relegation fate sealed for the rooks
24/3/09
Lewes have been relegated from the Blue Square Premier this evening.
With seven league games still to play, the Rooks were hanging on by a thread but tonight’s results have ensured that the club’s tenure in the Conference was only a temporary one.
The draws for Grays at Torquay and York at home to Kettering mean that they are out of reach for Lewes and so the trap door has opened, with the club becoming the first club to be relegated this season in the top five divisions..
This week should also see a decision made on the club’s future with the deadline looming for points being deducted this season should the club decide to go into administration, although the board are currently considering a number of options with a view to resolving the club's difficult financial situation.
