Lewes' new Caretaker Manager Steve Ibbitson oversaw a 15th consecutive league defeat for Lewes against Kidderminster Harriers, but was encouraged by his team's overall performance.

Despite the Harriers' recent run of good form, Lewes comfortably held their own and the visitors would have been pleased to hear the final whistle as the Rooks threatened to snatch a late equaliser.

Justin Richards put Kidderminster ahead in the 19th minute, but far from fall apart, Lewes pressed on and worked hard to give their guests a tough workout.

Lewes skipper Danny Cullip put in another commanding performance, but even he couldn't match a breathless display from Joe Keehan who worked hard all afternoon and proved yet again that his place in the team this season has been on merit and not because of who the manager was.

Ibbitson was positive after the defeat, commenting, "I was very pleased, particularly with the second half. In the first half we defended well and didn't look under a lot of pressure but we never really got anything going forward.

“In the second half we actually did cause a threat and I thought we did well. We continued to defend really well so I'm very pleased with the back four but what was pleasing was we pushed up further and got a goal threat on."

“It would have been nice to start with a win but we have certainly got a lot we can base on.”
