Lewes lost their fourteenth consecutive league match to Rushden & Diamonds this evening, although the result was overshadowed by manager Kevin Keehan’s resignation after the game.

The Rooks suffered a terrible start, going behind in the first minute to Rob Wolleaston’s well-executed control and shot which gave Lewes keeper Rikki Banks little chance.

The spirit of the current Lewes squad was displayed five minutes later having battled hard and not let their heads drop. On loan striker Rhys Henry was played into danger by Joe Keehan and the Southend man was able to dazzle keeper Dale Roberts before equalizing.

Shaun Wilkinson almost put Lewes ahead with a rasping effort but a second half penalty saw Lewes go behind when Chris Breach was penalized for a foul, with Michael Rankine converting the spot kick.

Lewes next entertain Kidderminster Harriers on Saturday at the Dripping Pan.
