FA Community Shield donation
14/1/09
Lewes FC has made donations to three local charities as a result of their share of the FA Community Shield fund.
They qualify to receive a set amount from the FA Community Shield fund following their success in reaching the first round of the FA Cup last season, when they met Mansfield Town.
The club has split £5,000 received from the FA between Sussex Cancer Fund for Treatment & Research, St Peter and St James Hospice, and Raystede Animal Welfare.
Lewes FC Spokesman, Steve White commented, “It is always great to give something back to the community from our success in the FA Cup. It is a generous spin off from the competition and a nice gesture”
