File (Embeded) - Trish Gower penalty save

In a dramatic afternoon at the Dripping Pan, Lewes Ladies made the fourth round of the FA Cup overcoming a spirited challenge from Chesham United.

Two Claire Trafford goals seemed to have set Lewes on their way but a penalty and header from a corner drew the visitors level in normal time.

Extra time saw Kiera Chapman put Lewes ahead with 7 minutes of the second period gone, but minutes later, Chesham again showed their spirit with a goal from a free kick.

On a freezing afternoon, the last thing anyone wanted was penalties but with the score at 3-3, they duly arrived. Lewes penalty taker Helen Whitton made a disastrous start when her kick was saved, but Trish Gower saved the first Chesham penalty to draw level.

Kerrie Tagg scored, and with the next Chesham penalty blasted over, Lewes went ahead when Lel Smith and Kelly Newton scored. Lewes seemed destined to win but Emma Millington missed the fifth penalty.

However, Gower hadn't had the last say and she made a fine save from the fifth Chesham penalty to put Lewes into round four, the furthest any Lewes side has gone in the FA Cup in the club's history.
