Lewes Ladies make history
07/12/08
Lewes Ladies team are in the third round of the Women's FA Cup sponsored by E-On for the first time in the club's history.
Having been postponed twice because of the weather, Lewes had to concede home advantage this afternoon as the tie against Bedford Town was switched to Bedfordshire.
Despite not having played for three weeks, Lewes made light work of their South East Combination League rivals, winning 6-0, thanks to goals from Charlotte Bennett, Kerry Tagg, Kirstie Spice, Lel Smith and two from Kiera Chapman.
Ladies team manager Jacquie Agnew was rightly pleased after the match. "I'm so proud of my players, they've played well this season and fully deserve their place in the third round."
Their opponents will be Chesham United and the match is scheduled for the Dripping Pan next Sunday, kick off 1pm.
