Clubs show interest in Lewes youngsters

David Wheeler and Ryan Storrie have been invited to trial for Championship side Southampton in the New Year.
Wheeler, who made his Blue Square Premier debut at Torquay last month and Storrie, both wingers, have impressed Saints scouts during the season and in particular the team’s FA Youth Cup run which ended at the hands of Premier League Hull City on Monday.
The Youth team have attracted interest from a number of clubs this season. Wheeler, who is not on contract because he is in full-time education, has impressed a number of clubs including Ipswich and Fulham, whilst scouts from Arsenal, Charlton and Watford were amongst the crowd for Monday night’s match.
Fred Foreman, Tim Rivers, Matt Whitehead, Grant Hall and captain Ryan Timms have already appeared for the first team in the Senior Cup tie against Selsey and some of them will travel west tomorrow for the FA Trophy match against Team Bath.
