Ladies march into the FA Cup 2nd round
10/11/08
Lewes Ladies made light work of the FA Cup 1st round with an emphatic 9-0 win over Tower Hamlets at the Dripping Pan on Sunday.
Goals from Claire Trafford (3), Charlotte Bennett (2), Kirstie Spice (2), Helen Whitton and Kiera Chapman ensured that the Ladies team made it through to the 2nd round where they will face Bedford Town. Report
Lewes will now face Bedford Town, who they beat 3-0 away in a league match in September, as they look to progress into the 3rd round for the first time in their history.
Lewes manager Jacquie Agnew said, "Looking at the other teams in the draw, this is a decent tie for Lewes. I'm certainly not taking anything for granted but the players have had a good season so far and we'll certainly be looking forward to this game, with a chance to meet one of the big teams in the 3rd round."
"It would be great to see a good crowd for this match and it's a big achievement for the club to have both us and the U18 team in the 2nd round of the FA Cup."
The match kicks off at 1pm at the Dripping Pan on Sunday 23 November. Entrance is free and everyone is welcome.
