03/12/11 - Rooks 1:0 Harrow Borough

Harry Harding’s second goal in as many games was enough for Lewes to overcome the challenge of Harrow Borough.

Christian Nanetti’s 13th minute free kick was headed back across goal by Steve Robinson and Harding found himself dribbling towards goal ten yards out before his punted shot bobbled into the far corner.

Albert Jarrett and Michael Malcolm both had half chances as Harrow conceded a flurry of bookings as they struggled to get to grips with the Rooks’ challenge.

Michael Malcolm was enjoying the run of the frontline, ably supported by a determined Christian Nanetti as the Rooks’ pressing game was forcing errors from the hosts.

Nic Ciardini won a free kick on the edge of the area which Malcolm made easy for keeper Will Viner and the first half came to a close with the best move for Borough but the corner flew across the face of goal.

Harrow stepped it up in the second half and became more of a threat, although the real danger was in their penalty area when Nanetti fell under a challenge but the referee waved away appeals with the linesman declaring that the Italian was already “on his way down.”

Shortly after, Viner was at full stretch to keep out Malcolm’s clever strike as Nanetti and Harding had further chances.

In the closing moments, Harrow almost snatched an equaliser when Lewes keeper misjudged a cross, but the ball was cleared off the line to preserve another narrow win.
