24/10/11 - Rooks 3:2 Leatherhead

Lewes U18 qualified for the second round of the Ryman Youth League Cup this evening with a 3-2 win in a game that was full of incident.

A number of regular Lewes players were missing through injury and illness this evening and despite a brave performance, conceded the opening goal to the visitors.

The game was held up by a floodlight failure in the second half but Lewes emerged back into the light for Zac Dove to equalise with a penalty.

Leatherhead were reduced to ten men in the 87th minute and with the game into extra time, another Dove penalty edged Lewes ahead.

The visitors weren't finished though and pulled a goal back soon after, leaving a tense final period of extra time which seemed destined to finish with penalties until Layton Schaaf's clean strike from the edge of the area secured the win and a passage into the second round.

Lewes: Carr, Joseph, Eubank, Frank, Phillips, Brown, C Dove, Z Dove, Stabins, Schaaf, Quirke.

Subs: Kaye, Bozan, Marsh, Stephens, Morris.
