23/10/11 - Rooks 8:0 MK Dons
League leaders Lewes made it 10 wins out of 10 and a goal difference of 66 with a 8-0 defeat of MK Dons at the Dripping Pan on Sunday.
Naomi Cole hit a first half hat trick whilst Tammy Waine and Charlotte Bennett grabbed a brace each and Kirstie Spice finished off the scoring.
Cole's first came after seven minutes when she finished at the second attempt from Waine's cross, and Waine doubled the lead on 14 minutes with a strong run and shot from 25 yards.
Andreia Veiga's square ball on the edge of the box was hit first time by Cole for her second and she completed her hat trick on 40 minutes, reacting quickest after Lel Smith couldn't quite direct her header in from a corner.
There was no let up in the second half as Bennett got her first three minutes after the restart, volleying in from close range, and her second 10 minutes later with a brave header from Waine's cross.
Kelly Newton played Waine through and the striker capped a Player of the Match performance with a composed finish across the keeper to make it seven, and late substitute Spice made the most of her time on the pitch with a close range volley from Waine's cross on 83 minutes.
The visitors almost grabbed a late consolation but Lewes keeper Trish Gower pulled off an outstanding save to keep her side's first clean sheet in five games. Manager Jacquie Agnew was almost as pleased with that as she was with the goals scored, praising her defensive unit who hardly gave MK Dons a sniff all game.
A tougher test awaits next week when Lewes visit Enfield, the only other unbeaten side in the league and a familiar foe that always produces a close game.
