18/9/11 - Rooks 5:0 Ebbsfleet United

Lewes edged a hard fought first half and ran away with it in the second to overcome Ebbsfleet 5-0 at the Dripping Pan on Sunday.

Lel Smith's goal was the difference at the break before goals from Steph O'Reilly, Charlotte Bennett (2) and Tammy Waine wrapped up the game sponsored by the Newton family.

Right back Emma Wood saw her early shot hit the underside of the bar and bounce out. Waine's cross was then only half cleared and Smith collected before sending in a shot from 20 yards which took a wicked bounce in front of the keeper and looped in for a 1-0 lead on 20 minutes.

Ebbsfleet looked dangerous on the counter attack despite Lewes dominating possession, and they had a penalty shout turned down before carving out a golden chance just before half time, the Ebbsfleet winger's tame shot collected easily by Layla Young in the Lewes goal.

Immediately after the restart Trafford was denied by an outstanding saved after being teed up by Kelly Newton. Trafford was then awarded a rather soft free kick on 53 minutes and O'Reilly curled in at the second attempt after Ebbsfleet were penalised for encroachment.

On 67 minutes another dangerous corner from Holly Grogan found Waine who turned it back across goal for Bennett to hook home. A fading Ebbsfleet still created two great chances that they failed to convert, however it was all over when their centre back was dismissed for bringing down Waine who was through on goal.

Andrea Veiga twice jinked her way through the defence and while her first effort was well saved, the keeper could only parry the second to Bennett who slotted in the rebound.

Waine finished off the scoring on 90 minutes when she expertly tucked away an inch perfect cross from Player of the Match O'Reilly.
